After major brain surgery leaves her with temporary aphasia, the toughest challenge Marie has to face isn’t the road to rehabilitation. For this jazz singer with a powerful voice, what hurts the most is dealing with the memory gaps that have robbed her of some of her childhood—erasing parts of her life that now seem to be gone forever.
The worst part of it all is her inability to remember the voice of her father, who died when Marie was 12. Her sister Michelle tries to help her rekindle those memories, but to no avail.
Desperate, she searches through her family’s old home movies, trying to reconstruct the words of the father she loved so deeply and—using all the help she can find—to hear the sound of his forgotten voice. But it is only at the end of this process, and in the most unexpected of places, that she will finally hear its echo.
