This episode of Trading Places has two families trading coast for coast. Vancouver Island's Steve and Julie Bird enjoy the small community of Ucluelet with their young daughters, Mackenzie and Brechan. Steve is the definitive handyman - between his job as Harbour Manager and various volunteer duties, he has built and maintained their lovely log home. Julie manages a cozy two-cabin hideaway overlooking a stunning private bay.

The Campbell's hail from a city just a little further east - Charlottetown, PEI! Barb is a Professor of Nursing. Gordon is a Supreme Court Judge. With demanding schedules and an active social life full of friends and Island-style house parties, the Campbell's are busy enough. Now, add to the mix four daughters! Julia, Sarah, Maria and Emily, aged 14 to 20, keep the Campbell house buzzing with life.

Take two families, get them to the airport, and don't tell them until the last minute where they're going! The excitement unfolds as the Bird's and Campbell's fly across the country to put on each other's hats. The Campbell's attempt to manage a West Coast harbour and a resort full of hungry guests. On the opposite coast, the Bird's are hit with legal briefs, nursing class woes and reckless lobsters. Everyone has to find a way to get the job done - all in someone else's robes, lab coat, or hip-waders!
