This episode of Trading Places starts off with a hitch - the Trites would like to go anywhere but the prairies and their trades live in the middle of Saskatchewan! Cadence and Brad are a young couple with professional jobs. Eventually, their portfolio will grow but for now they're still paying off student loans and living in a rental unit with their two kids. They want a bit of an adventure to see what's on the other side of the fence. In Saskatchewan, Barry and Shelley have been there and done that. They own a house, run a successful hair salon, and plan to finish raising kids within the next few years. Shelley has been up to her elbows in hair dye for years. Barry is an accomplished machinist, a job requiring precision, finesse and a watchful eye. The Hoffman's think it'd be really cool to see another part of Canada! Take these two families, get them to the airport, and don't tell them where they're going until the last minute. And as usual, Trading Places is going to shake things up! First, there's the excitement of finding out what each of their trades do. A hairstylist becomes a teacher; a stockbroker becomes a machinist and then there're all the hobbies. Shelley-the-hairstylist might be ready to teach chemistry class, but can she handle it with her own kid in the class? Cadence-the-teacher juggles a high-maintenance dye job and cornrow braiding at the salon. Her husband, Brad-the-stockbroker, has orders to finish at the machinist's shop before his mountain biking debut, and Barry-the-machinist has to sell stocks on the golf course. Plus, he's going to get the surprise of a lifetime!
