The Eastman Tragedy
200630 minFilm: Documentaire
On the evening of August 4th, 1978, a charter bus carrying 26 handicapped people and 22 volunteers sank to the bottom of Lac d'Argent in Quebec's Eastern Townships. The hydraulic brakes failed on a steep slope leading down to the water. Seven people, including the driver and a local priest, escaped. None of the handicapped people survived. The official inquest revealed that bus inspection standards in Quebec were shockingly lax. The owner of the bus was never charged.
