My Future Self

Bachir Bensaddek follows thirteen young people aspiring to be actors at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal. Hard-working, caught in an endless round of auditions, they walk a difficult path in a world where friendship and competition go hand in hand and the pleasures of the theatre contrast with the urgency of forging a career. Filmed over a year, this documentary combines interviews, scenes from every day life and clips from performances, delivering along the way reflections about art and the desire for fame. Through keen observations, My Future Self paints a portrait of young people unsure of their future yet full of hope.
