The Bamako-Dakar Railway symbolizes the changes which are beginning to occur in Mali, one of the world's poorest nations. Journey on the Bamako-Dakar relates the struggles of women to support their families despite the drastic inflation rates provoked by recent changes in society. It is also the story of how one Malian development worker helps her peers work together to adapt to these changes.
