A functional study introducing electricity to children. Storm scenes--a rumble of thunder, lightening snaking across the sky, and the beating of rain--show natural, unharnessed electricity. Indoors, a boy repairs his mother's ironing cord, as the film shows the manifold domestic uses of controlled power, suggesting the danger present when the controls are abused. Various safety hazards are shown. A Hydro serviceman explains a home wiring system. The film then shows various aspects of the municipal hydro-electric system. At a transformer station and a power station an engineer explains how water power is converted to electricity. Finally, the consequences of a community power failure are shown.
