Dad

19981 hFilm: Documentaire

From outward appearances, Roger seemed to have everything going for him. In the 1970's, he had a house in the suburbs, a white picket fence, a wife and four children and a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Twenty years later, Roger has been in jail more times than he cares to recall. He has lived on the streets, begging for food and money to buy drugs. Then, in 1985, he picked up a hammer and violently attacked his elderly mother. This senseless act lead to a ten year stay in a high security mental institution. A powerful and compelling piece, Dad traces Roger Triffo's life from a successful family man to a street person convicted of attempting to murder his own mother. Through this documentary, Roger is confronted by his son who is hoping to get some answers to questions that have haunted him most of his life. Why did you leave the family? Why didn't you look us up over the past 25 years? Did you ever think about your family? Why did you attack your own mother? This film is a journey of discovery into the mind of a man who seemed to have it all, then it slipped away.
