Caribou of Northern Canada

A study of the Barren Ground caribou of Canada's vast northern tundra regions. This film affords exceptionally close observation of these large antlered animals, singly and in herds, during their compulsive drift along well-defined routes--first northward when the snow melts and the tundra awakens; then, when the first blizzards blow, southward to the shelter of the tree line. The calves born during the annual cycle keep pace with the herd almost from birth.
