Produced by the National Film Board of Canada for the National Museum of Man, National Museums of Canada.

In 1841, the Earl of Caledon of Tyrone, Ireland, acquired an elegantly tailored deerskin coat trimmed with fringe and brightly dyed porcupine quill embroidery. This fashion, popularized by the Métis, adapts the style of the white "Coatmen" to traditional Indigenous materials.
