On Fogo Island, Newfoundland, the Challenge for Change Program carried out a pilot experiment in the use of film as a direct means of communication and as a catalyst for social change. Some twenty hours of film were shot over a two-month period in 1968, in which the people of Fogo Island discussed problems of daily concern and their thoughts about the future. In the process of committing their problems to film, the people of this island outpost were helped to express them in more concrete terms and, in some measure, to face them. The films in this series are representative of the total footage shot on Fogo Island. Note: For other Fogo films, see: A Memo from Fogo, The Specialists at Memorial Discuss the Fogo Films, and i"When I Go... That's It" r.
